[Salon] My latest convo: Dr. Moeed Pirzada on Pakistan's role in the current (non-)negotiation

Hi there, friends--

I just want to alert you to the records of the fascinating conversation I held late yesterday evening (DC time) with the Pakistani analyst Dr. Moeed Pirzada, in JWE's continuing podcast series on the Iran Crisis.

You can watch the whole 29-minute convo here. Or if you go to this post on the JWE blog you’ll find a pretty good summary of it along with links to the audio versions, and to the full transcript.

Pirzada provided a lot of nuance in his assessment of the role that Pakistan has been playing, which he sees more as being a mail-carrier for Washington than a fully independent mediator. (I pushed back on that, a bit.) He was also notably concerned about the possibility of a renewed Israeli-U.S. attack on Iran being launched within the hours ahead...

By the way, I heard from one of our JWE board members that, though he's "subscribed" to the JWE Substack, this latest post did not come into his regular in-box. I don't know if some of the rest of you might want to check out what's happening with your incoming email, to ensure that yours, too, is not somehow getting diverted?

Or of course, if you're not Subscribed to the JWE Substack, I warmly invite you to become so.

Bests as ever-- Helena
